When I first found out I had fungal acne, I was certain I would never shop at Sephora again.
Womp, womp.
And this was difficult to accept, because in my pre-malassezia life, shopping at Sephora was more than just a past-time: it was a hobby!
I was – and I still am – into beauty. Into makeup. Into beauty gurus on the internet. Into skincare and makeup lines. And I always wanted to get my hands on the latest & greatest products, most of which were available at Sephora.
In fact, you can check out this video where I find out just how much money I had wasted on products that I could no longer use after discovering I had fungal acne. Spoiler: it’s a lot!
But then I got to thinking….
If there are already many KNOWN skin care and makeup products that are technically fungal-acne-safe, couldn’t there be more just waiting to be discovered?
Why, yes – there are!

Sephora Collection by Sephora
As I got curious about how I could once again shop at Sephora, I realized I was going to have to go through the ingredients list on every single product in the store to figure out what I could still buy.
Sheesh – it’s a lot of work, but as a beauty enthusiast – I am happy to do it!
However, it has to be done in bite-size chunks, and that’s why I decided to go through every single product offered by Sephora in their own SEPHORA COLLECTION line first. Seems like a great place to start for a couple of reasons:
- Everything in the SEPHORA COLLECTION line is $40 or less. The purpose is to offer quality products at a more affordable price point. Who said shopping at Sephora had to be expensive?
- The products in the SEPHORA COLLECTION truly are quality. I had used plenty of SC makeup in my pre-fungal-acne days, and I genuinely thought the formulations were pretty stellar for the price point.
So you can imagine how pleased I was to discover that there are A TON OF OPTIONS in the SEPHORA COLLECTION line that are safe for those of us suffering with fungal acne (malassezia folliculitis).
And without further ado – here they are. Everything in the SEPHORA COLLECTION makeup and skin care lines that is fungal acne safe.

Want to Fast-Track Your Results From Fungal Acne to Clear Skin?
I had acne for 17 long years of my life! And in that entire time, none of the 5 dermatologists I saw ever even mentioned fungal acne. Knowing what I know now – I’m shocked!
And now I consider it my duty to share my acne story with the world. You can read about my long experience in these posts – and I promise you – my acne story is not the one you’ve heard a million times.
I’m not going to pitch a miracle cure to you. I didn’t get clear skin from taking Accutane, or from using essential oils, or by eliminating dairy from my diet. Hear me out and I promise I’ll give you just the facts, just the science, and just the knowledge that finally got me results after years of drawing a total blank on how to cure my acne.
My 25-page eBook can help you fast-track your skin’s progress and get clear more quickly! Inside, I detail the exact methods, products, and routines I used to clear my severe acne after 17 long years.
If you’re at a loss of how to get clear skin, let me help you.

Double Check Formulations Before You Buy!
Before I sign off, I want to remind you that you should always double check the ingredients on any products you plan to purchase. Why?
Because formulations can change without notice! So while I have done my best to ensure that every item on this list is safe for those of us with fungal acne (malassezia) as of September 2020 – that could change.
I’m not sure if you’re aware, but Sephora has recently made a commitment to make all of their makeup “clean” – but you’ll have to see their website if you want to know what that means. So I do wonder how that goal will affect the formulations of their SEPHORA COLLECTION products going forward.
I’ve already seen and checked ingredients in their “clean” Sephora Collection products, and unfortunately there are a lot of natural oils (lipids) in the formulations that promote the growth of malassezia. So.. we’ll see.
