Welcome back, my pretties! Today I’m here to bring you a fun Halloween makeup tutorial featuring products that are 100% safe for any of us dealing with fungal acne, malassezia folliculitis, or pityrosporum (they’re all different names for the same thing, if you’re wondering ?).
If you’re new to my blog & unsure what I’m talking about, check out these posts about fungal acne:
Now onto this Halloween makeup tutorial inspired by my favorite Wicked Witch: Elphaba! ?♀️
Fungal Acne Safe Face Paint Palette
I love dressing up for Halloween, and after I saw Wicked in NYC in 2018, I’ve been dying to do an Elphaba costume! Luckily I was able to find some awesome fungal-acne-safe face paint to achieve this look. In fact, everything I used in this tutorial (except mascara) is safe for fungal acne.
For this Wicked Witch Makeup Look, I am using:
- Kryvaline Face Paint Palette
- Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation
- Makeup Revolution Luxury Banana Powder
- L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in the color Noir
- Maybelline SuperStay Liquid Matte Ink Lipstick in the color Originator
- Tarte Big Ego Mascara** NOT FUNGAL ACNE SAFE
How to Transform into Elphaba
“Like a froggy, ferny cabbage
Wicked, The Musical
The baby is unnaturally Green!”
Pro Tip: Before you apply any green face paint, start with a regular foundation base. This will ensure you don’t end up with green stains on your face. Yikes!
Products in the Order I Applied Them:
- Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation
I did two full layers of this on my face, ears, and neck! I would also put this as a base on your hands if you paint them green! - Kryvaline Face Paint Palette – Using the Dark Green
I got a whole palette of 12 colors so I could play around with other looks, too! The green is a great dupe for MAC chromacake. I did 3 full layers of this to get to the desired green & found that a fluffy blush/foundation brush was the best applicator by far. You’ll see my full brush evolution. I started with a Hake brush à la Wicked the Musical’s methods, but for the size of my paint cake and the formulation it really didn’t work well.
My advice? Get a cheap brush. I used this one. Or use one you have and wash it right after. It could stain, so proceed with caution. The detail brush the palette came with definitely came in clutch for close to the eyes and lips! Keep that bad boy handy. - Makeup Revolution Luxury Banana Powder
This makeup requires a good setting powder, and the luxury banana powder is super affordable + fungal acne safe. Apply liberally all over face and neck and let it “bake in” Kim Kardashian-style. Buff in with a kabuki brush after a minute or two! - L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Noir
This simple black shadow is Malassezia friendly and super cheap. Perfect for a simple contour of the eyes and can double as a brow filler and liner if you want! - Maybelline SuperStay Liquid Matte Ink Lipstick in Originator
I own this lipstick in at least 8 colors and wrote a whole review of it on the blog. I’m obsessed. It’s long lasting, easy to apply & super pigmented. It doesn’t shrivel your lips or irritate them, and it’s relatively easy to get off when you want to! I don’t believe this formulation is available in black, so I went with the shade Originator, a dark purple hue! - Tarte Big Ego Mascara *not fungal acne safe
Ok, this mascara isn’t exactly “fungal acne friendly,” but I had it on-hand, so I used it. I haven’t found a mascara that is fungal friendly yet- I’ll certainly let you know when I do! Until then, this did the trick fine. But if you’re really being serious about fungal acne, use strip lashes instead.
Witch Accessories to Complete the Look
If you’re looking for some witchy accessories, most of mine I’ve had for a while now, but these are similar to the ones I have in the video:
- Wig Cap – FANDAMEI 4 pieces Light Brown Stocking Wig Caps Stretchy Nylon Wig Caps for Women
- Witch Hat – Feeke Bacekounefly Adult Womens Black Witch Hat for Halloween Costume Accessory (Black), 1Pcs
- Long Black Hair Wig – MapofBeauty 40 Inch/100cm Fashion Straight Long Costume Anime Wig (Black)
And voila! Here’s the finished look:
Wherever you wear this look- costume party, Halloween party, or to star in your own production of Wicked, I hope you enjoy!
