If you are struggling with malassezia folliculitis aka fungal acne, then you probably know by now that in order to clear your skin, you’ll have to change both your makeup & skincare products. By the way, if you’re not sure, check out my post about How to Tell if You have Fungal Acne.
I’m well aware there are now-famous lists on the internet consisting of 1500+ fungal acne safe products, and others like it, and I am absolutely thankful for them. Seriously, thank you F.C.! But one reality of this skin condition is: while these lists are amazing resources, many of the products are either no longer in production or not easily accessible.
That’s why I talk a lot about fungal-acne-safe makeup products on my blog! I love beauty & makeup, so I’m passionate about finding good replacements for my old cult-faves. Lookin’ at you, Becca First Light Primer. And it’s not just about finding them, but also whether they are 1) affordable, 2) work well, and 3) are widely available & accessible.
So today we are talking BB Creams, CC Creams, Tinted Moisturizers (whatever you want to call them) that are technically 100% safe for Fungal Acne. I say technically, because *both of these products contain glycerin. If you want to hear my thoughts on glycerin as an ingredient, check out this video.
By the way, if you’re looking for foundations or concealers that are safe for fungal acne, I have some reviews of those as well:
- Fungal Acne Safe Foundations
- Fungal Acne Safe Concealers
- Fungal Acne Safe Sunscreens
- Basic Fungal Acne Skincare
Now let’s do this!
If you prefer to watch instead of read, I have a vlog version of this article on my Youtube Channel:
1. NYX Professional Makeup Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil*
NYX Claims that this tinted veil is:
- Cruelty Free & Vegan
- Fresh Face Look
- Evens Skintone
- Seamless Coverage
- Breathable & Weightless
- Luminous Skin
- No Streaks
- Up to 8 Hours of Wear
- Shade-Range: 12 Shades
- Price: $13 | .9oz
My Review:
What I Like About This Tinted Skin Veil: The shade swatch is printed on the packaging of this product, and I think it’s a true match for the color of the product inside. FYI, I purchased True Beige Buff and feel that it’s a perfect match for my skintone. It also has a precision applicator, which makes application of this product very neat & tidy. Some Tinted Moisturizers are a total mess to squeeze out of the tube.
I also like that there are 12 shades available in this product line, which is not a common occurrence for CC Creams. Plus, NYX is available nearly everywhere: Target, Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Amazon, etc.. Definitely fits the highly-accessible bill.
Overall, I did think it lived up to its claims of being lightweight, breathable, and providing a luminous glow. I also think it would make a great base for a dewy-skin makeup look, as most fungal-acne safe formulas tend to be mattifying, and this one is not!
Cons: I think I may be asking too much of this product, but it did not even out my skintone at all. I would have to apply concealer on top of it if I wanted to wear this out in public. The formula is so lightweight, it would take several layers to get the coverage I want.
As the product directions suggest, I tried to apply this with a brush, but there’s not enough weight or pigment in the formula for that to work, and the bristles soak the product right up. If you’re going to use this, apply it with your fingertips!
This product & formula reminds me a lot of Glossier’s Skin Tint, and while I really really really tried hard to like it, I just don’t.

2. Supergoop! Daily Correct CC Cream with SPF 35*
Supergoop! Claims that this CC Cream is:
- 100% Mineral
- Suitable for All Skin Types
- Natural Finish
- Buildable Coverage
- Flawless, Even-Looking Skin
- Softens the Look of Fine Lines, Wrinkles & Pores
- Shade-Range: 4 Shades
- Price: $36 | 1.6oz
My Review:
What I Like About This CC Cream: Admittedly, I’m just not a tinted moisturizer kinda girl. I really prefer a full-coverage foundation, but I have to say: this product ain’t bad. It’s maybe even.. kinda great?
This product gives a lot of hype to the fact that it contains SPF35, which is great, but I would still layer a sunscreen underneath. If you need one, check out My Favorite Fungal-Acne Safe Sunscreens. The reason being, a little of this product goes a long way, so I doubt you’ll end up using enough product to really get the full benefits of SPF35.
It definitely smells like sunscreen and- texture-wise- it feels just like applying sunscreen to your face. It also reminds me of the Tarte Amazonian Clay BB Cream, which I used to use & love. It is very pigmented, and I think it did a fantastic job of filling in my pores & leveling out my skin. It doesn’t absorb in very deeply, but just kind of sits on top of your skin, so definitely lock this down with a fungal-acne-safe face powder, such as this Makeup Revolution Luxury Banana Powder.
I have to say that my twin sister uses this as her everyday makeup, and I’m always impressed with how much she’s still glowing after a full day of work. Oddly, Supergoop! makes no claims about the wear-time. Again, it’s a wet formula and doesn’t dry down fully, so if you don’t want it to slide off your face- use a powder on top to set it! My sister definitely does.
Cons: There are only 4 shades, and none of them are dark shades, which is a big blow, and therefore I’m instantly knocking off 1 star from my rating. Please expand your color-range, Supergoop! Because I genuinely like this stuff & want to recommend it to everyone.
Other than that, my biggest con is that this product oxidizes on the skin. I’m using the color Light, but sometimes I feel it’s too dark for me. That’s definitely something to bear in mind if you decide to purchase it.
